A couple of weeks ago, Kaffeine, long one of my favourite coffee shops in the capital, announced the addition of freshly made almond milk as a dairy free option. My experience with steamed almond milk in coffee had been vile at best, so naturally I had doubt.
But surely Kaffeine wouldn't muck up their reputable name with some insipid nonsense?
But then again why would anyone use anything other than Bonsoy as their choice of non dairy milk? There are some people with actual soy allergies though and people who think they have soy allergies because they read an article once and they don't know what science is (news flash: MSG is not bad for you), and so in that light it makes sense to have a soya alternative.
I don't know if that was their reasoning, but they did it and they did good. It's fatty, rich, smooth, creamy, doesn't taste overly nutty, and pours beautifully. It even looks nice after I've fallen over myself fourteen times because I'm trying to take a picture of my coffee while walking down the street. So yeah, I'd recommend it. And major props to Kaffeine for doing something different!
